Nominate your favourite artwork
The Sheffield Design Awards for Public Art relies on nominations from artists and the public. Use the form below to nominate a sculpture or mural that you think should be considered for the awards.
Each nominated entry will be considered by the shortlisting panel; there is no need to nominate entries more than once.
Entry Criteria
Sheffield
The nominated artwork should be located within the city boundary. Whilst one of our prime aims is to support local artists, the artist does not need to be from Sheffield. We are always keen to receive entries from outside the city centre, and those that would not be widely known.
Please note that the boundary for the Public Art Awards is different from the Sheffield Design Awards boundary.
Public
The work should be located within, or be visible from, a publicly accessible space. However, work that is within publicly accessible buildings (schools, community buildings, etc.) which may not be open 24/7 will still be considered.
Commissioned
The work should be commissioned by the land or building owner, or a community group.
Artwork
The work should be original artwork but may include existing public artworks that have been relocated or conserved. The work can be sculpture, work integrated into buildings or landscape or wall art. It should not exist purely to promote or advertise a commercial enterprise or solely for political promotion (although it may contain political comment).
Completion
The work should have been created, installed, relocated or conserved between 1st June 2022 - 8th September 2025. Both permanent and temporary work will be considered. Artwork that has been nominated for previous years’ awards will not be considered unless it has been significantly altered according to site/presentation etc.
Shortlisting and Judging
Shortlisting
Each nominated entry will be considered by the shortlisting team in mid-September; there is no need to nominate an entry more than once. We may contact nominated entries for additional information to aid the shortlisting / judging process.
Judging
Shortlisted entries will be visited by the judging panel in the Autumn. The public will be able to vote for their favourite shortlisted nomination in the People’s choice Award. Awards will be presented at a city centre ceremony in November.
