  • The Sheffield Design Awards is a biennial event which rewards good quality design within the built environment across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

    Projects of all scales and uses are eligible for an award. Sectors covered include residential, commercial, education, healthcare, heritage and conservation, and landscape.

    The awards are presented at an awards ceremony held in the autumn.

  • Sheffield Design Awards is a registered charity (number - 1180890) and is run by a committee of trustees. The current trustees are Leanora Simmonite (chair), Dr Jim Monach, Andrew Jackson, Paul Bedwell and Michael Brown.

  • The current event categories are the Micro Project Award, Small Project Award, Medium Project Award, Large Project Award, Conservation Award, Residential (single dwelling) Award, Residential (multiple dwelling) Award, Open Space Award, Interior Award, Outstanding Project of the Year, Public Choice Award, and the Keith Hayman Award for Public Art.

    Award categories are subject to change and will be confirmed nearer the time.

  • Entries within the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority can be entered for consideration. This encompasses the local authority areas of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. If in doubt, please get in touch with the Trustees via sheffielddesignawards@gmail.com.

  • The fee to be paid varies depending on the contract value of the project:

    There is no entry fee for the Micro Project category for projects with a value of less than £20,000.

    The fee is £75 for a project with a contract value of between £20,000 and £300,000

    The fee is £150 for projects with a value of between £300,000 and £2,500,000.

    The fee is £250 for projects with a value over £2,500,000.

    Please note that this fee is only due once for any project entered, no matter how many categories the project is entered for.

  • The entry period will open on the 23rd May 2024, to coincide with the launch event for the 2024 awards.

    The deadline for entries is the 14th August 2024.

  • The venue is to be confirmed but will be in central Sheffield, close to the train station and public transport links.

    The award ceremony will be an early evening event, with welcome drinks, canapes and the opportunity to catch up with attendees. The ceremony itself will last approximately 1 hour and the awards will be presented to the winners after an introduction by the compere. There will not be a formal dinner. Afterwards, the bar remains open and guests are invited to stay at the venue for drinks and networking.
