Chiles, Evans + Care Architects have carefully reworked the north wing of a Grade II listed Sheffield hall, unpicking decades of alterations to rediscover its original scale, light and character.

At its heart, a new contemporary staircase takes its proportions from the building’s lost octagonal rooflight, bringing warmth and light back into the centre of the home.
