Barnsley Civic - HLM Architects

A “Palace of the People”, opened up for a new generation.

HLM Architects have restored and reimagined Barnsley Civic, bringing new life to the Grade II listed landmark while celebrating its place at the heart of the town’s cultural story.

The original Victorian entrance on Eldon Street has been reopened, reconnecting the building with the high street, while flexible new spaces for culture, creativity, community and local businesses help secure its future.

A historic civic building, once again centred around the people it was built for.
